The number of casualties caused flash floods that occurred on Thursday, 10th March 2011 approximately at 8 pm in some villages in Tangse Sub-District continues to increase along with the discovery of new victims. Based on data derived from National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB), to 5 pm, the victim died around 6 people, while 6 others are still missing.
12 Villages were affected, as follow: Layan, Blang Dalam, Peunalom I (Pucok I), Peunalom II (Pucok II), Ranto Panyang, Blang Jeurat, Pulo Baro, Blang Bungong, Krueng Meuriam, Blang Pandak, Blang Dot dan Keude Tangse. There are 2 villages that are still being isolated, Peunalom II (Pucok II) and Blang Pandak. This is because the road is blocked.
Assistance to the IDP currently experiencing problems due to the condition of the people who are scattered in several locations. Based on data from BNPB, it turns out there are only 3 points, such as : 819 people from the village of Ranto Panyang IDP in mosque of Blang Dhod village, 108 people from of Blang Bungong village IDP in mosque of Kuala Krung villager and 300 people from Krueng Meriam IDP in mosque of IRE hamlet. And according to information from heads of Ranto Panyang village, today they will return to their villages because there are also has post evacuation. And at 7 pm, all the people from Ranto Panyang who sought IDP in meunasah Dhod Blang village have returned to their villages. While other people prefer to live in their family homes around the village. In addition, according to information obtained from PMI volunteers in Pidie District, some people prefer to stay in their village. Community at night they stay in the forest because they feared aftershocks and disaster will occur and in the morning they returned to the village to take logistical assistance. For two isolated villages, logistical assistance to the victims be given over the air using helicopters.
Assessment
Currently, electricity in some villages affected by flash floods is still susceptible to interference. Until today, there are 6 doctors from Banda Aceh, which is a team of Sambrinoe foundation in collaboration with the Aceh Provincial Health Office. According to information from the medical team at the health posts in Peunalom I (Pucok I) villages, for medical needs in the village is still adequate. While some displaced communities in the village are still traumatized, sick with a fever and cough. But to the needs of all people affected by disaster, the current medical conditions and medicines are still desperately needed. This is because not all medical personnel at the scene because there are several villages that are still isolated.
Based on field observation, there are several local agencies and internasaional which has been at the location, among others: Aksi Cepat Tanggap (ACT), PKPU, Indonesian Red Crescent, Sambrinoe Foundation, Forum Bangun Bangsa and WFP.
The assistance has been provided to people affected by flash floods include: 2.5 tons of rice, 1129 boxes of instant noodles, 423 blankets, 1400 sarongs, 1450 clothing, 61 mosquito nets, 30 pack of sanitary napkins, 24 boxes of formula milk and 25 sets of equipment bath.
